Micro-gérer les gens donne rarement de bons résultats. Il me semble.
Dans ma banlieue en France, j’avais des copines et voisin.es musulman.es, ça manquait de liberté côté prière… Je l’ai remarqué seulement en voyageant.
En Guinée et au Mali, j’ai découvert l’appel à la prière et vu des gens prier brièvement un peu partout :)
D’autres étaient dans mon cas, leurs parents ne leur avaient pas transmis leur religion.
(Moi, je suis « blanche » québéco-polonaise de culture française.)
La spiritualité et la communauté sont d’un grand secours: quel dommage que cette thématique riche soit si mal traitée!

In front of the Marché Maisonneuve, where i used to live, there is often two ladies with a cart trying to indoctrinate you to catholism. If that is allowed, so should public praying for muslims. I find the latter less disruptive, as an agnostic, than the two ladies trying to sell me onto their religion.

I think you're making a mistake here. You need to remember that Canadian Muslims are not the Saudi Arabian government. So yes, if the theocratic governments of Egypt or Saudi Arabia were in charge, they wouldn't co exist. However, Canadian Muslims are that-- Canadians, and their values reflect a complex duality and an identity that is in constant tension and flux. Many Muslims, same as you or I, strongly agree with the principles of laïcité. I am extremely pro laïcité, and yet the way the government is using it is a racist bastardization of the concept.
