February in review (woops it’s March!)
Please read this and answer the poll questions! This is helping me shape the direction of the work I'm doing.
I have continued with my plan to do one major weekly piece, and at least the G&I podcast. I have been happy with the response to it, at least superficially. This week I’d like to ask for your feedback. BELOW ARE SOME POLLS. I WOULD LIKE YOUR FEEDBACK ON SEVERAL THINGS, SO PLEASE PARTICIPATE AND HELP ME FINE TUNE MY APPROACH!
On a personal note, We’ve been growing again which is great, it makes me happy to see, and happy that people are connecting with the work that we’re producing here. Some updates on pieces that are coming out soon:
I have a breakdown of National Post and Postmedia coming out with J-Source soon. I went through an entire year of their work, and labelled every article that has discriminatory language around race, gender, or things such as Zionism. I’m looking forward to that article coming out, and my partnership with J-Source looks to continue in the coming year. I should be doing a bit more with them– they’re great.
I have two pieces coming out with the Walrus in the next few weeks, one about Ubisoft and one about proportional representation. Looking forward for those to come out– just waiting on fact checking for the Ubisoft piece, and my portion of the prop rep article is done. That’ll be soon! Will share with you as soon as it’s done.
I’ve also started paywalling some of my pieces. This is a sad reality that I have to start doing. I talked about it beforehand, but it’s part of the reality of living under capitalism. Many of my articles are still un-paywalled. But some of them are going to be now. Thank you as always to my subscribers for keeping the lights on.
With social media, I’ve been doing more writing over there than videos for the past while, but it’s all a pendulum.
In Quebec, my work is ramping up– the election coming up is exciting for me, and with the new polling numbers, I think this is going to be much more fun than most of us assumed.
I’ll also be announcing a large scale, ambitious project in May. It will take up the better part of several months, and I’m excited to share it with you. Right now we’re busy finding the resources to make it happen, and when it happens, I think it’ll be extremely exciting for all of you, and me!!!! Can’t wait to tell you about it. Keep your eyeballs peeled (this is a terrible sentence, but I’m not changing it.)

My barrier to subscribing (through an email tied to an RSS feed reader, not this one) has nothing to do with the cost, sadly. I can afford it, and there are newsletters here I would love to support, but I can't in good faith give money to Substack as they continue to host and platform people pushing hateful rhetoric (as recently as last month, The Guardian shared an in-depth look at it https://www.theguardian.com/media/2026/feb/07/revealed-how-substack-makes-money-from-hosting-nazi-newsletters ). If there were other means of financially supporting you, away from these monolithic tech companies that have a laissez-faire attitude towards users who openly praise Hitler and deny the Holocaust ever happened, for example, I would. I also understand that you've already set yourself up here (as well as on Instagram and Tiktok) because that's where a lot of users are, so I can't blame you for wanting to establish yourself as a journalist and connect with a growing audience. It's hard to pick up and switch to something like Ghost, Beehiiv, or Buttondown as you're getting settled in here, it's hard to convince your supporters to all make the switch, and every platform has their own issues. No service is perfect. I just wanted to add my comment here because I felt that your poll didn't account for "Not wanting to financially support Substack."
